2002–2004 Fantasy Football Top Rookies Revisited

After two quick responses asking to see pre-2005 Rookie Draft selections I dug them up for everybody to see. What’s clear is that regardless of the year, there are typically less than 50% of the selections that ‘hit’ (meaning they’re quality rookie’s worth the salary & selection).

• 2004 appeared to be a better than average year with the top 4 picks being worthwhile (though the jury is still out on both Jones’), and Ben Roethlisberger at #8 has to be one of the better 2nd half rookie selections in the past few years — only topped by Clinton Portis at #8 in 2002.
• 2003 was a below average year. Palmer & Leftwich have been worth their selections but O. Smith, C. Rogers, K. Boller & J. Fargas have all bombed. W. McGahee at #6 and C. Simms at #8 have been solid selections.
• 2002 was a terrible year with the exception of Clinton Portis, J. Shockey and D. Foster. The rest of the class have been a waste to date (William Green, J. Harrington, P. Ramsey & D. Carr).
